The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Heat Index Advisory’ for multiple provinces and districts in Sri Lanka, warning of elevated temperatures conducive to heat-related illnesses.

Expect scattered showers or thundershowers in various parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts later today.

Mariners are advised of high waves and potential surges in sea areas extending from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota.
