Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) member Mujibur Rahman assumed his role as a member of Parliament, taking oaths before the Speaker.

 Rahman's entry into Parliament follows the disqualification of former State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage. The Supreme Court ruled this week that Gamage, due to her British citizenship, was ineligible to hold a seat in the Sri Lankan Parliament.
Consequently, the SJB nominated Rahman via their National List to fill the vacant seat.
