TNA Northern Provincial Council Member M.K. Shivajilingam participated in the monthly session of the council today wearing a black band.

He took this step to protest the council’s refusal to debate his proposal concerning the last stages of the war. Sivajilingam had proposed the council should move a motion declaring that an act of genocide took place at the latter stages of the war in Sri Lanka.

Shivajilingam has added that he will discuss the matter with the TNA leadership and speak on the proposal at the Provincial Council sessions on October 9
