The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) concerning a fake letter that falsely claimed party leader Sajith Premadasa accepted an invitation to a debate hosted by the Independent Television Network. The SJB's legal counsel announced to the media that they are seeking a thorough investigation, noting that a similar complaint was made on April 26.

The counterfeit document, circulated on social media, falsely indicated Premadasa's participation in a debate with National People's Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake. In reality, only Dissanayake appeared in the live broadcast, as the SJB maintains they never agreed to Premadasa's involvement in the event.
