President Ranil Wickremesinghe has called for immediate action against a minority of government officials allegedly undermining the "Urumaya" program, which aims to distribute two million freehold land deeds. Speaking at Weerasinghe Stadium in Ampara, where 1,758 symbolic land deeds were awarded to eligible recipients, the President highlighted the dedication of many officials working on the program.

President Wickremesinghe expressed concern over reports of certain officials intimidating the public and questioning land allocations, suggesting that the government might reclaim the land. He urged citizens to report any harassment to their local MPs, who have been instructed to investigate and report back.
