Under the restructuring plan of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), the CPC-owned refinery will be established as a separate government-owned and operated entity. Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera, announced that this move aims to attract and raise necessary investments to improve fuel quality, efficiency, capacity, and reduce costs.
The current approved cadre and salary structure of the CPC will also be revised, and digital platforms will be introduced for various functions and services, Wijesekera stated on X. A discussion regarding the timeline and process for implementing these reforms took place with the senior management of CPC and the refinery on Monday, June 24.
