State Defence Minister Discusses Increasing Stipends for Disabled War Veterans

A special discussion was held in Colombo to address the stipends of war heroes retired on medical grounds. Disabled war veterans, retired during active service, met with State Minister of Defence Premitha Bandara Tennakoon to discuss increasing their disability allowance from 10 percent to 20 percent.

The veterans expressed their concerns and requested the increase due to financial hardships. Minister Tennakoon acknowledged the significant financial burden on the government in providing lifelong salaries and allowances to disabled veterans and their families. He assured that these payments would continue and promised to review any discrepancies in the veterans' salaries by examining relevant statistics and discussing the matter with officials.
