Former Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan's Final Journey Begins Today

 

The mortal remains of the late R. Sampanthan, Former Opposition Leader and Leader of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), will be laid to rest today. A private funeral parlor in Borella will host the ceremony from 9 am, allowing the general public to pay their final respects.

TNA MP M. A. Sumanthiran, PC, announced that the remains will be taken to the parliamentary complex tomorrow. Following public honors at Parliament, the body will be transported to Trincomalee.

R. Sampanthan, who passed away on June 30th at the age of 91 in a private hospital, was a prominent political figure known for his leadership and advocacy for the Tamil community.
