Sri Lankan President Stands Firm on 5-Year Term Limit

 

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe asserted his belief in the 5-year term limit for the presidency, according to a statement from the President's Media Division on Thursday, July 4.

Wickremesinghe expressed support for the Election Commission's decision to schedule the Presidential Election for 2024.

Furthermore, President Wickremesinghe clarified that Chamindra Dayan Lenawa did not seek his or his legal team's counsel before filing a determination application with the Supreme Court regarding the President's term in office.
