SriLankan Airlines to Undergo Restructuring, Not Sale

Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva announced that SriLankan Airlines will undergo restructuring instead of being sold. According to existing regulations, only up to 49% of the airline’s shares can be transferred to another entity.

Minister de Silva highlighted that the government is focusing on restructuring the airline rather than an outright sale. Despite six individuals expressing interest, none were found suitable. The possibility of involving a Sri Lankan entrepreneur remains, provided they can demonstrate the necessary capabilities.
