The police have arrested the gunman involved in the killing of Roshan Kumara Vithanage, a Public Health Inspector (PHI) in Elpitiya. The suspect was arrested in the Mount Lavinia area with two firearms, including the weapon allegedly used in the murder.

Vithanage, who served as the PHI for the Karandeniya area and was the Treasurer of the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors’ Union (PHIU), was shot dead on February 26 at his residence on Pathiraja Mawatha. The gunman arrived on a motorcycle with another suspect. CCTV footage later showed the suspects fleeing the scene.
