David Sislen, the newly appointed World Bank Country Director for Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Maldives, met President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday, July 4. This introductory meeting facilitated a cordial discussion between the President and the World Bank team.
Sislen succeeds Faris Hadad-Zervos, who is transitioning to a new role within the World Bank. Also present at the meeting were Martin Raiser, Vice President for the South Asia Region; Chiyo Kanda, Country Manager for the Maldives and Sri Lanka, South Asia; and Dr. R.H. S. Samaratunga, Senior Advisor to the President on Economic Affairs.
