Forty individuals have been injured following a bus accident in the Toppass area of Labukele, Nuwara-Eliya, early this morning. The private bus, carrying passengers on an excursion from Nuwara-Eliya to Trincomalee, overturned at around 5:00 a.m. due to a sudden brake failure, police reported.

The bus tumbled from the upper stretch of the road to the lower stretch at a bend, resulting in injuries to 40 of the 41 individuals on board, including the driver and assistant. All injured parties have been admitted to the Nuwara-Eliya District Hospital for treatment.
