President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that he would protect the Sri Lankan muslim community as his own brothers and sisters.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has expressed these remarks when he met the General Secretary of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Iyad bin Amin Madani, during his visit to the United Nations Summit in New York.
Sri Lankan information department said that the Sri Lankan president and the General Secretary of the Islamic Cooperation discussed about some incidents that took place in Sri Lanka in the recent past involving Sinhala and Muslim groups.
In this discussion Secretary Iyad bin Amin Madani has said that the organization does not consider Sri Lanka as an outside party and will always consider it as a part of the Muslim brotherhood.
Secretary Madani has maintained that the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation appreciatesSri Lanka’s corporation and that the organization will continue to strengthen the relations between the two parties.
