India Rescues 9 Crew Members Including Sri Lankan After Oil Tanker Capsized Off Oman

The Indian Navy's warship INS Teg has successfully rescued nine crew members from the capsized oil tanker MT Falcon Prestige. The rescue took place 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah near the port town of Duqn in Oman.

The MT Falcon Prestige, a Comoros-flagged vessel, was carrying a crew of 16 when it capsized. Among the nine rescued, eight are Indians and one is from Sri Lanka. The Indian Navy, assisted by its Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft P8I, is continuing the search for the remaining seven crew members.

The operation is being conducted under challenging weather conditions, with rough seas and strong winds complicating the efforts. Sri Lanka's Navy is also involved, with Spokesperson Captain Gayan Wickramasuriya confirming contact with the Maritime Rescue Coordinating Centre in Oman regarding the three missing Sri Lankans.
