President Ranil Wickremesinghe has ordered the Ministry of Finance to release the funds allocated for the upcoming Presidential Election without any delay. A senior official confirmed that Rs. 10 billion from the 2024 budget is designated for this purpose.

Recently, officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Election Commission held a discussion focusing on the expenses related to the election. Additionally, 45 police divisions have submitted reports on their estimated election expenses, which have been sent to the Police Headquarters.
