Sri Lanka and Pakistan to Hold 7th Round of Political Consultations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Sri Lanka and Pakistan will convene the Seventh Round of Bilateral Political Consultations in Islamabad on July 30, 2024. The Sri Lankan delegation will be led by Foreign Secretary Aruni Wijewardane, while Pakistan's delegation will be co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi.

The consultations aim to review and enhance bilateral relations, focusing on cooperation in economic and trade, defence and security, education, culture, media and sports, consular matters, agriculture, and technology. Foreign Secretary Wijewardane is also scheduled to meet with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Ishaq Dar.

The Sri Lankan delegation includes High Commissioner Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne and senior officials from both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad. The previous round of consultations was held virtually in December 2020.
