The Government of Sri Lanka will start issuing new e-passports  from January 1, 2025, the Department of Immigration and Emigration announced. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and security of passport services.

Applicants must pre-register on the official website (https://www.immigration.gov.lk) starting July 16, 2024.
Only those with prior registration will be allowed to visit the department's head office and regional offices.
