MP Wajira Abeywardana Warns of Civil War Risk with Traditional Politics

Member of Parliament Wajira Abeywardana said that adhering to traditional political ideologies in the upcoming Presidential Election could lead to a third civil war in the country. Speaking at a press conference held at the Presidential Media Centre, Abeywardana highlighted the need for accountability should such a scenario arise.

Despite the unanimous passage of the new Economic Transformation Bill by all 225 members of Parliament, Abeywardana criticized certain individuals for spreading misleading ideas to the public. He called for an end to traditional political divisions and urged unity behind the national plan to build the country.

The press conference, themed "Collective Path to a Stable Country," highlighted the importance of setting aside old political practices to ensure national stability and progress.
