Sri Lanka Releases Two Arrested TN Fishermen, Hands Over Mortal Remains of Deceased 

 

The Sri Lankan Navy handed over two arrested Tamil Nadu fishermen and the mortal remains of a fisherman who died at sea to the Indian Navy. The transfer occurred near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

The Indian Navy ship, INS Bitra, received the fishermen and the deceased’s body at approximately 1:00 a.m. Following the transfer, INS Bitra proceeded to Rameshwaram, where coordination with marine police and the Tamil Nadu Fisheries Department facilitated the handover at around 3:00 a.m.

The Indian Consulate General office in Jaffna confirmed the safe repatriation of the two fishermen and the mortal remains in cooperation with the Sri Lankan government.
