The mortal remains of the Most Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero, the Chief Sanghanayake of Colombo New Korala and Chief Incumbent of the Gangaramaya Temple, are currently placed at the Gangaramaya Temple for the public to pay their final respects until August 5th.

The cremation ceremony is scheduled for August 5th at the grounds adjacent to the temple.

The revered Thero, affectionately known as "Podi Hamuduruwo," was born on December 14, 1943, in Galaboda, Matara. Ordained at the age of eight, he became a well-respected figure in the Buddhist community. He passed away yesterday at the age of 80 after a prolonged illness, receiving treatment at a private hospital.
