Former Minister Harin Fernando hinted that the next Prime Minister of Sri Lanka could be from the Uva Province.
Speaking at the ‘Ekwa Jayagamu’ event in Badulla on Sunday, August 11th, Fernando said, "I can sense this. If we need to appoint a Prime Minister from the Uva Province, if we can win all 9 seats (from Badulla District), I will take the responsibility to make him the Prime Minister."
His comments were made in the presence of Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, who secured the highest number of preferential votes in the Badulla district during the 2020 Parliamentary election.
