The Ministry of Defense said that Members of Parliament (MPs) can now apply for repeater weapons in addition to the pistols currently issued for personal safety. This aims to increase the security of all 225 MPs, who are eligible to receive the additional firearms.
Parliamentary General Secretary Kushani Rohanadheera confirmed that so far, around five MPs have applied for the repeater weapons. The Ministry of Defense said that the weapons will be distributed upon payment of the required fees.
