Services at the Colombo National Hospital have been severely affected as two CT scan machines and two MRI machines have remained unrepaired for nearly two months. The malfunctioning equipment, located in the outpatient and main radiology departments, as well as the neurosurgery unit, has disrupted critical surgery and treatment services.
Chanaka Dharmawickrama, President of the Government Radiology Technologists Association, expressed concern over the ongoing issue, highlighting the strain it has placed on patient care. In response, Colombo National Hospital Director Kumara Wickramasinghe said that a team from Japan is expected to arrive soon to repair one of the machines, while parts for the other machines have already been procured.
