Heavy rains have impacted over 3,000 people across the Kalutara, Puttalam, and Ratnapura districts in Sri Lanka, according to the Disaster Management Center. The downpour has affected 929 families, causing two injuries and partially damaging 27 houses.
Flooding has led to road closures in the Kalutara district, including major routes such as Warakagoda Kalawellawa Road and Bulathsinghala-Molkawa Road. In response, red notices have been issued for several divisional secretariats in Kalutara and Ratnapura due to the heightened risk of landslides.
The Department of Meteorology has warned that more heavy rains, exceeding 100 millimeters, are expected in parts of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts. Additional rain or thundershowers are anticipated in the South and North-West provinces, as well as Kandy and Nuwara Eliya.
