Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Matara District MP Karunadasa Kodithuwakku has officially crossed over to the opposition in Parliament. In a special statement delivered on August 21, Kodithuwakku announced his decision to support Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa in the upcoming presidential election. Kodithuwakku said that his move was driven by concerns for the country's future and economic well-being.
Following his speech, Kodithuwakku took his seat among the opposition MPs. He had previously entered Parliament in the 2020 general election, securing 114,319 votes from the Matara District under the SLPP banner.
