Former Western Provincial Councillor Amal Silva has been arrested in connection with the July murder of businessman Club Wasantha in Athurugiriya. Acting Police Spokesman DIG Ruwan Gunasekera confirmed that Silva is accused of aiding and providing lodging to one of the gunmen and the driver involved in the shooting.

Amal Silva’s arrest follows the recent apprehension of the second gunman and the car's driver in the Pinwatta area of Panadura.
