The Election Commission has released details on locations and dates for postal voting in the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election. Postal votes can be marked on September 4 at District Secretariats and Election Commission offices.
Uniformed staff and civil workers can cast their votes on September 4 and 6 at Senior DIG and DIG Offices, SP and ASP Offices, Police Stations, STF Camps, Special Police Units, and VIP Security Divisions. Tri-Forces personnel and government employees can vote on September 5 and 6 at their respective camps and institutions.
Additional voting dates are set for September 11 and 12 for those who missed the initial dates, with voting available at District Election Offices.
Voters must present valid identification, such as a National Identity Card, Driving License, Passport, or a Temporary Identity Card issued by the Election Commission. The Commission has instructed certifying officers to ensure that only properly identified voters are allowed to mark their ballots.
Senior Deputy Inspector General of Elections Asanga Karavita announced that nearly 54,000 police officers will be deployed for election duties. The Presidential Election is scheduled for September 21.
