Navy Seizes 1,865kg of Fish Suspected of Being Caught with Explosives

The Sri Lankan Navy arrested a suspect and seized approximately 1,865kg of fish believed to have been harvested using commercial explosives. The operation took place in Nilaveli, Trincomalee, where personnel from SLNS Vijayaba conducted a search at a local fish collection center.

During the operation, 72 boxes of fish were discovered, raising suspicions of illegal fishing practices. The suspect, a 39-year-old resident of Nilaveli, was attempting to sell the fish. Both the suspect and the seized fish have been handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Trincomalee for further legal action.
