NPP Files Complaint Against Rajitha Senaratne Over Alleged Threat to Expats

The National Peoples’ Power (NPP) has filed a formal complaint with the National Election Commission, accusing former Minister Rajitha Senaratne of threatening Sri Lankan migrant workers against traveling to vote in the 2024 Presidential Election.

The complaint, submitted on August 30, 2024, alleges that Senaratne, a supporter of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, made the threat in a media appearance that has since circulated on social media. The NPP contends that such actions undermine the integrity of the election and violate election laws, hindering the conduct of a free and fair election.
