Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate for Sri Lanka's National People's Power (NPP), plans  to boost the country’s IT economy to $5 billion by 2030. Currently valued at $1.2 billion, His plan seeks to leverage the Sri Lanka’s growing pool of skilled young professionals to drive this transformation.

Anura said that achieving this target will require substantial reforms, including the creation of a new constitution aimed at reinforcing citizens' rights, enhancing national unity, and ensuring accountability for political leaders. He also proposed reducing political privileges and expenses to promote equality under the law.

Central to his economic strategy is the goal of training 200,000 new software engineers by 2023. He believes that harnessing the talents of Sri Lanka's younger generation will be crucial to closing the gap with India's $253 billion IT sector.
