An investigation has been started following the discovery of human remains at the Colombo Port. The bone fragments were found on July 13 during excavation work for an elevated expressway near the old secretariat building, about six feet below the surface.

The remains were uncovered near the first roundabout on Colombo Chaitya Road, leading into the port. The investigation is being conducted under court orders, with Professor Raj Somadeva overseeing the process.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Bandara Ilangasinghe was present during the exhumation, and representatives from the Association of Families of the Missing Persons attended the proceedings.
