The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are ready to provide financial support to bolster Sri Lanka's economic prospects, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie J. Chung said today. This declaration came during a meeting with Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat.

Ambassador Chung emphasized the US commitment to fostering an export-driven economy in Sri Lanka, conveying congratulations from President Joe Biden to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. She highlighted the US's intention to provide both financial and technical assistance for initiatives aimed at combating fraud and corruption.

The US also expressed support for President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's programs focused on renewable energy development, an export-oriented agricultural sector, and poverty alleviation. Additionally, Chung noted plans to expand a school lunch program for rural schools to urban areas in the future.
