New Cabinet Terminates Three Projects from Previous Government

The Cabinet has decided to terminate the contracts of officers and consultants appointed for three projects initiated by the previous government.

Cabinet Spokesman Vijitha Herath said that the relevant Ministries are now fully capable of managing these initiatives.

Effective September 30, 2024, the contracts will be ended as part of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's efforts to streamline operations. Alongside this termination, the Cabinet has also approved the establishment of the ‘Office for the Affairs of Sri Lankans Abroad’ under the President's Office, and the creation of a ‘National Peoples Council’ as well as the implementation of an ‘Agriculture Modernization Programme.’
