Korea Pledges Continued Support and Investment in Sri Lanka as Ambassador Meets AKD

 

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Miyon Lee, visited President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today at the Presidential Secretariat, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations. During the meeting, Ambassador Lee congratulated Anura Kumara Dissanayake on his inauguration and conveyed best wishes from President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Ambassador Lee affirmed Korea's unwavering support for Sri Lanka, emphasizing ongoing cooperation in education, health, and other sectors. She highlighted intentions to collaborate on digitalization, climate change initiatives, and renewable energy, detailing the roles of Korean agencies like KOICA, KOFIH, and the Saemaul Foundation.

The ambassador also expressed hope for Sri Lanka’s success in its Debt Restructuring Program in line with IMF commitments and announced Korea Exim Bank’s intention to renew loan agreements. She reaffirmed the readiness of Korean companies to invest in Sri Lanka, expressed expectations on government’s transparency and streamlined policies to attract Foreign Direct Investment.
