The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2024 general election will close at 12:00 PM today, as confirmed by Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake. Nominations are being processed at District Secretariats.

Mr. Ratnayake said that independent groups must also submit their deposits by noon, alongside political parties required to finalize their national lists.

The Election Commission has urged candidates to adhere to election laws and maintain fairness throughout their campaigns. Currently, 241 recognized political parties and 349 independent groups have submitted their nominations for the upcoming election.
