Retired Senior Police Superintendent Shani Abeysekara has been reinstated in the police service on a contract basis, following approval from the National Police Commission.

Police Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Nihal Thalduwa, confirmed that Abeysekara will serve for a period of one year. Shani Abeysekara previously held the position of Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and he is known for his leadership in several high-profile criminal investigations in Sri Lanka.
