The Sri Lankan government has decided to pause restructuring of state-owned enterprises, including SriLankan Airlines, until after the general election on November 14.

A source from the government revealed that the previous administration's State Owned Enterprises Restructuring Unit, which aimed to divest 130 entities, has been disbanded following the election of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Any restructuring decisions will now be deferred.

The national carrier, SriLankan Airlines, is not for sale, with future development plans to be devised in consultation with newly appointed management. Additionally, the transfer of Mattala International Airport to a joint venture involving India and Russia is pending legal clearance from the Attorney General.

Other major infrastructure projects, including the Colombo-Ratnapura expressway and phases three and four of the Central Expressway, remain unresolved due to funding issues related to the EXIM Bank of China's debt restructuring.
