Three Presidential Candidates Face Action Over Missing Campaign Reports

The Election Commission plans to take action against three presidential candidates who failed to submit their required campaign income and expenditure reports.

Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake showed that the Commission would notify the police and seek advice from the Attorney General on how to proceed. The candidates in question are Venerable Battaramulle Seelarathana Thero, Sarath Keerthiratne, and Ariyanethiran Pakkiyaselvam.

The deadline for submitting these reports expired at midnight on Sunday, with election law stipulating that candidates must provide their financial disclosures within 21 days of the election results being announced.
