The Chairman and members of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka have handed over their resignation letters to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday (Oct 14).

The resignations came after the President's Secretariat informed the UGC Chairman and the members of the Commission to resign through a letter from the President.

University Grants Commission Chairman Prof. Sampath Amaratunga, Deputy Chairman Prof. Chandana P Udawatta and other members of the Commission have submitted their resignations.

The tenure of the members of the UGC Commission who were appointed to the respective posts in 2020 was to expire in March 2025.
