Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Vijitha Herath says that instead of a full budget for the year 2025, the government plans to present a poll in December. As the Parliament is scheduled to reconvene on November 21 after the general election, the government does not have enough time to finalize the budget.

The vote on the account will cover three months of expenses, with the comprehensive budget expected to be tabled at a later date. Mr. Vijitha Herath said this while answering questions about the timing of the presentation of the budget for the next financial year.
