The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) plans to finalize a fuel supply agreement with the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) for future power generation, moving away from the previous government's open bidding process.
The prior administration had sought bids from various suppliers, including LIOC and Sinopec, just before its term ended. However, the new government decided to streamline fuel procurement due to minimal price differences among suppliers and is unwilling to pursue the previous plan further.
Officials noted that the CPC had previously failed to adjust dealer margins in its fuel supply transactions. Both the CPC and CEB are currently under the purview of the Energy Ministry, indicating a unified approach to addressing fuel supply needs for power generation.
