Sri Lanka’s Election Sets Democratic Example: Japan's Envoy

Highlighting Sri Lanka's commitment to democracy and peaceful transition of power, Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mizukoshi Hideaki has appreciated the recent presidential election.

Ambassador Hideaki praised both politicians and voters for their inspiring commitment to democratic principles, saying, "The level of commitment to democracy is nothing short of inspiring." He expressed confidence that the election would foster a more vibrant and prosperous Sri Lanka.

In discussions with the new leadership, they focused on governance reforms, anti-corruption measures and inclusive development. "I am reassured of the new government's commitment to these critical issues," he said.

Ambassador Hideaki emphasized the importance of eliminating corruption and implementing governance reforms as priorities for the new administration. He affirmed Japan's readiness to assist Sri Lanka by sharing experiences in promoting a business-friendly environment to attract foreign investment.
