Former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara has criticized the current government for implementing misguided reforms and relying heavily on loans. Speaking at a press conference held in Galle, he said that while praising the foresight of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the financial management of the current administration.

Manusha specifically targeted the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), suggesting the party is resorting to deceitful tactics to gain political ground. "The JVP is attempting to hasten the election date, fearing their lies will be exposed as the situation worsens," he said, referring to unfounded allegations about hidden funds and oil revenue misuse.

He highlighted a shift among voters disillusioned with the current government, suggesting many are turning to the United National Party (UNP) and other groups represented by the cylinder symbol. This could challenge the ruling party's ability to maintain its previous 42% vote share.

Emphasizing the need for effective leadership Manusha criticized certain candidates on the National People's Power (NPP) list for lacking local ties and the capacity to address community needs. He warned that these candidates might struggle to connect with their constituents, particularly those imported from other regions.
