The Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two accomplices of underworld figure “Army Chooty,” linked to the drug operations of Nandun Chintaka Wickremaratne, also known as ‘Harak Kata.’
The suspects were arrested in Piliyandala while in possession of 7.4 kg of heroin and 1.17 kg of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as 'ice,' with a combined estimated street value exceeding Rs. 285 million.
The operation, conducted with assistance from army intelligence, targeted key figures within the notorious drug trafficking network. The arrested individuals, 41-year-old Omalpage Dhammika Saman Kumara and 53-year-old Kankanam Arachchige Sujeewa, were also found with a motorcycle and a lorry during the raid.
The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) is currently conducting further investigations into the case, seeking to dismantle the extensive drug operations tied to both “Hark Kata” and “Army Chooty.”
