The Department of Meteorology says heavy rainfall and thundershowers will occur across parts of Sri Lanka, following the formation of a low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal. The weather system is expected to bring favorable conditions for afternoon thundershowers today (November 13) and over the next few days.
Heavy showers, with rainfall amounts of up to 100 mm, are likely in the Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Southern provinces, and Kalutara district. The Northern Province is also expected to experience several spells of showers, with thundershowers anticipated in other regions during the evening and night.
Misty conditions are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning hours.
