Five Fatalities Reported in Separate Road Accidents Across Sri Lanka

Five people have tragically lost their lives in separate road accidents across Sri Lanka over the past 24 hours, according to police reports.

The first incident occurred in the early hours of November 12, on the Pitigala-Elpitiya road in Amugoda. A motorcycle collided with a bicycle, resulting in serious injuries to both the cyclist and motorcyclist. The cyclist, a 68-year-old man from Amugoda, later succumbed to his injuries at Karapitiya Hospital.

In Moragahahena, a lorry collided with a three-wheeler on the Colombo-Horana road, leading to the death of a 34-year-old woman from Kudagalara, Middeniya. The other passengers, including the three-wheeler driver and two children, were seriously injured and transferred to Colombo South Teaching Hospital.

A third accident took place in Hikkaduwa, where a lorry collided with a cyclist on the Galle-Colombo road. The 71-year-old cyclist from Berathuduwa succumbed to his injuries at Karapitiya Hospital. The lorry driver has been arrested.

Later in the day, a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus collided with a motorcycle in Baduraliya. The 35-year-old motorcyclist from Kosgulana died from his injuries after being transferred to Horana Base Hospital. The bus driver was arrested.

Lastly, a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a van in Katumuluwa, Katupotha. The 63-year-old victim from Bandara Koswatta succumbed to his injuries, and the van driver has been arrested.
