A 35-year-old driver has been arrested in Gampaha for allegedly stealing Rs. 75 million from a secure cash transportation service. The suspect, employed by the security firm, reportedly fled with the cash from Minuwangoda on Monday.

 The Gampaha Division Crime Investigation Bureau and Minuwangoda Police started an investigation. Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended the suspect in Kaduwangaha, Gampaha, and founded he was also in possession of 5 grams of ice narcotic.

During questioning, the police were able to recover Rs. 31,515,291 of the stolen money. The suspect, identified as a resident of Makawita, remains in custody as the investigation continues.
