Scottish Media Says Engineer Who Assaulted Mervyn Silva's Son Is A Hero

Scottish media has dubbed James Casserly, Scottish national who allegedly assaulted Minister Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka Silva inside a night club in Colombo, as a hero.

It has now come to the limelight that the Scottish engineer assaulted the Minister’s son when the latte attempted to harass the foreigner’s girlfriend.

“James Casserly has been shown a wave of public support after stepping in to stop flamboyant politician's son Malaka Silva from allegedly harassing his English girlfriend,” Herald Scotland said.

“Mr Casserly brawled with Silva - widely reviled as Sri Lanka's most hated public figure - in an incident which is being investigated by the British High Commission,” the report further stated.

“Silva was knocked out and taken to hospital with his injuries while his team of security guards turned on 43-year-old Casserly and his girlfriend Belinda McKenzie, 24.The media in Sri Lanka have hailed Mr Casserly for his actions and run a series of features about the bravery of the Scottish people,” the report said praising the stance taken by Sri Lankan media on the matter.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that several nightclub owners in Colombo had complained to the top officials of the government over Malaka Silva’s behavior. Silva is a regular seen at high-end nightclubs in Colombo and is well known for his late night brawls.

 

Last year, he allegedly assaulted an Army officer outside a night club in Colombo and the victim sustained head injuries.
