Rathana Thera Denies Claims That Stones Were Thrown At His Temple

November 20, 2014

JHU Parliamentarian Athuraliye Rathana Thera denied the claims that some people had thrown tines at his temple on Gothami Road, Borella.

“It is a rumour. No such incident happened. Stones were not thrown at my temple,” Rathana Thera said, speaking to Asian Mirror, a short while ago.

Rathana Thera also added that there should be a special investigation on those who spread such rumours.

“There can be hidden motives behind such rumours,” he said.

However, Police said that Police teams were rushed to the Rathana Thera's temple on information that stones were thrown at the temple on Gothami Road, Borella.

Meanwhile, speaking to media in Colombo two days ago, Rathana Thera, who recently stepped down from his positions in the government along with other prominent members of the JHU,  said he had received information on certain attempts to imprison them.

“We are not afraid of punishments and we are ready to face anything,” he asserted.
